Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Removals Richmond in respect of the current financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our business operations and our supply chains. We recognise that the removals and logistics sector can be exposed to labour-related risks, and we are committed to addressing these risks with transparency and integrity.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals Richmond provides residential and commercial removal, relocation, and associated services. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom and we work with a range of suppliers and partners, including vehicle and equipment providers, storage facilities, subcontracted drivers and porters, packaging suppliers, and office and facility service providers.
We acknowledge that modern slavery risks can arise at various tiers of our supply chain, particularly where there are temporary, seasonal, or subcontracted labour arrangements, or where products and materials are sourced from higher risk jurisdictions. We are committed to continually improving our visibility and oversight of these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Removals Richmond has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with, support, or benefit from any business or individual involved in forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, child labour that is exploitative or unlawful, or any form of human trafficking.
All employees, workers, and suppliers are expected to act in accordance with our values, comply with applicable laws on labour and human rights, and support our efforts to eradicate modern slavery from our operations and supply chains. Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, or reporting to relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Audit Processes
We are strengthening our supplier due diligence processes to identify, assess, and manage modern slavery risks. Our procurement and supplier management activities are guided by the following principles.
We expect suppliers and subcontractors to comply with all relevant labour and human rights legislation, maintain fair and safe working conditions, ensure workers are employed voluntarily and are free to leave their employment with reasonable notice, provide transparent employment terms, and prohibit the charging of recruitment fees to workers. Suppliers must not retain workers’ identity documents inappropriately and must ensure that wages are paid regularly and in line with legal requirements.
Where appropriate to the scale and risk profile of the supplier, we will conduct audits or request evidence to confirm compliance with our modern slavery expectations. These audits may include reviewing policies and procedures, requesting documentation that demonstrates compliance with labour laws, and, where feasible, visiting sites to observe working practices. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to develop corrective action plans and monitor progress. Where suppliers fail to address serious issues or demonstrate a lack of commitment, we reserve the right to reconsider or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Removals Richmond encourages an open culture where employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders feel able to raise concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices without fear of retaliation. Concerns may relate to our own operations or those of our suppliers and partners.
Individuals are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery to their line manager or a senior manager. Anonymous reporting is respected where legally permissible. All reports will be taken seriously, assessed promptly, and investigated where appropriate. We are committed to protecting those who raise concerns in good faith and will not tolerate victimisation or detrimental treatment resulting from such reports.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that awareness and understanding are vital to preventing modern slavery. Removals Richmond will provide appropriate guidance and training to relevant employees, including those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management. Training will cover identifying indicators of modern slavery, understanding our policies and procedures, and knowing how to respond to and escalate concerns.
We will periodically communicate our expectations and responsibilities regarding modern slavery to staff and key suppliers to reinforce a shared commitment to ethical practices.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Removals Richmond. We will review our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence measures regularly to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to our operations and supply chain profile.
This statement and the underlying procedures will be reviewed at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business activities, or identified risk. The annual review will consider lessons learned from audits, reported concerns, and industry developments, and will inform improvements to our practices.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Removals Richmond, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation and ongoing effectiveness across the business.
